Sunbathing in the sun can be very beneficial. The skin uses the sun and converts it to vitamin D, Vitamin D is important because it helps with healthy bones. However it is important that you choose the right suncare products to guard yourself from the suns harmful rays. The sun gives out harmful ultra violet rays (UV) which is made up of three parts. UVA, UVB and UVC. UVA radiation can cause wrinkles and WVB radiation can cause skin cancer; so having the right suncare is very important.

The sun can cause short term damage to the skin; believe it or not a suntan is actually a sign of the skin being damaged by the sun’s rays. The skin produces more pigment which then can protect the skin against potential damage. Even when the sun tan fades away the damage left behind is still visible under a special light. By using the correct suncare products you can prevent damage to your skin.

Sunburn is an obvious damage to the skin, nearly all of us will experience sunburn at one point in our lives. The best way to prevent sun burn is to cover up our skin, however when sunbathing, over exposure in the sun can turn the surface of the skin red. It can become hot and painful. You can treat sunburn with the correct suncare products. You can use suncare products to sooth and relive any burning. However if the correct suncare products were used in the first place, i.e. a good sun tan lotion, the sunburn could have been prevented.

Aside from using suncare products you can watch the UV index which will tell you the strength of the suns UV radiation. Depending on your skin type you can use this UV index to determine exactly what suncare products you will need in order to be fully protected.

At The Cosmetic Practice we have suncare protection from a range of leading brands such as Heliocare and skinceauticals. A range of SPF's to protect the skin from harmful UV rays.
