Oily skin can affect anybody at any point in their life. oily skin is caused by the body producing too much of its natural oils. the body produces these oils to protect the skin from the elements and keep the skin healthy. a lot of people think oily skin is down to your diet or down to eating greasy food. this is an important factor but unfortunately oily skin is mainly down to your genes. there are many other factors that can cause or make oily skin worse.

Firstly your hormone levels can give you oily skin. when you’re a teenager,  and in the case of females, pregnant, menstruating or being on the contraceptive pill it can have a dramatic effect on your hormones. this can directly affect the condition of your skin.

Secondly, as mentioned earlier, your diet can have an effect on your oily skin. different junk foods and different types of meat can give you oily skin. the problem with some meats is the fact that different antibiotics are used with animals today and when we eat the meat it can cause a hormone imbalance in our bodies.

Another obvious factor is the environment. if you are sweating a lot and you live in an area with hot humid air it can cause oily skin.the same goes if you are living in an area with high pollution. the body produces more oil in the skin to protect from the environment.

When the body produces too much it can leave your face looking shiny – and nobody wants oily skin! Acne flare-ups and blemishes can be caused by oily skin. Thankfully The Cosmetic Practice supply’s a range of cleansers and toners which can be used to combat oily skin. Washing your face once in the morning and once in the evening is the single most effective way to tackle oily skin. To complement this gentle cleanser should be used on the oily skin to wash away the excess dirt and grease. Harsh soaps may take away the oil at first and leave the skin feeling dry, however this can trigger the body’s own natural defences to produce more oil and before you know it the oily skin is back twice as bad!

If a basic facial cleanser does not work on your oily skin then the cosmetic practice also supply’s products that contain an acid such as benzoyl peroxide from jan marini, salicylic acid, glycolic acid from neostrata, or beta-hydroxy acid from medik8. These acids are a group of acids that help make oily skin get better with time. Another way of defeating oily skin is to use masks and clays. Masks and clays are used to draw the oil away from the skin, when you wash off the mask the oil is removed with it. try exuviance purifying clay mask and feel the difference to your oily skin.
